Can I fit 35-inch tires with just a leveling kit?
Yes, but it's tight.
- 2.0" - 2.5" Level: You can fit 35x12.50 tires, but you will likely need wheel spacers (if using stock wheels) or wheels with a +0 offset to clear the control arms. You may still need to trim the plastic fender liner slightly.
- 33-inch tires: Fit easily with no rubbing.
Why is everyone talking about Upper Control Arms (UCAs)?
The 2009–2018 RAM 1500 has a weak spot: the Upper Ball Joint. If you install a leveling kit taller than 2.5 inches, the angle of the control arm becomes extreme. This can cause the ball joint to pop out of its socket while driving over bumps. If you plan to go 3 inches or higher, you absolutely need a kit that includes Aftermarket UCAs (like ReadyLIFT or Rough Country) to correct the geometry.
Does a leveling kit affect towing?
Yes. Because you are raising the front to match the rear, you lose the factory "rake." When you hook up a heavy trailer, the rear will squat, and your nose will point up (the "Carolina Squat" look).
