Verified Fitment Guide

  • Engine Specifics (Critical):
    • 3.5L & 2.7L EcoBoost: These intakes usually feature dual tubes or large inlets to feed the twin turbos. Look for "Turbo Whistle" in the description if you want sound.
    • 5.0L V8: The crowd favorite for sound. An open-element intake will make the V8 sound significantly more aggressive under acceleration.
    • PowerBoost Hybrid: Warning: The Hybrid model has unique cooling lines and high-voltage cables near the intake box. Standard 3.5L EcoBoost intakes usually DO NOT fit. You must select a kit specifically engineered for the PowerBoost.
  • Box Design:
    • Open Box (S&B, Roush): The filter is visible. loudest option. Great for sound, but draws slightly warmer engine bay air when stopped.
    • Closed Box (Volant, Corsa): The filter is sealed in a box. Best for performance. Keeps intake temps low (IATs) by pulling only from the fender, but is quieter.
  • Filter Media:
    • Oiled (Red/Blue): Highest airflow. Reusable (wash and re-oil). Best for street performance.
    • Dry (White/Gray): Easy maintenance. Just blow it out with air. Best for dusty environments/off-road (dust doesn't stick to oil).
