Verified Fitment Guide
- Hard Top vs. Soft Top (CRITICAL):
- MIC Hard Top: Most racks (including Rhino-Rack platforms and Thule crossbars) mount directly to the factory roof rails or the mounting points on the hard top.
- Soft Top: Standard roof racks will not work. You cannot mount weight to a folding canvas roof. You must seek out specific "exoskeleton" frames that mount to the body/bumper of the truck to clear the soft top.
- Weight Ratings (Know the Difference):
- Dynamic Weight: The maximum weight the rack can safely hold while driving (usually around 165 lbs for crossbars, up to 220+ lbs for platforms).
- Static Weight: The maximum weight the rack can hold while parked (crucial for sleeping in an RTT). You must use a reinforced system like the Rhino-Rack Backbone to achieve the 600+ lb static rating required for a tent and two adults.
- 2-Door vs. 4-Door:
- Platform lengths vary drastically. A 4-Door platform will overhang a 2-Door roof. Filter by your door count before ordering.
- Roof Panel Access:
- Crossbars: Usually allow you to easily remove the front row modular roof panels.
- Platform Racks: Often cover the front panels. Be prepared to sacrifice the easy removal of your front roof sections if you install a full-length overland tray.
