Husky X-Act Contour vs. WeatherTech: Which Floor Mat Actually Stays Put?

You just bought a brand-new 2019–2026 RAM 1500. You want to protect the immaculate factory carpet from mud, snow, and spilled coffee.

You instinctively go online and search for WeatherTech.

They are essentially the Kleenex of floor mats. Everyone knows the name, and their laser-fit "bucket" protection is legendary in the truck world.

But are they actually the best mat for your daily-driven RAM 1500?

Many RAM owners find that the rigid, hard plastic feel of standard thermoplastic liners can feel a bit slippery under wet work boots, and over several years of extreme heat, the edges can sometimes curl away from the door sill.

Enter the heavyweight challenger: the Husky Liners X-Act Contour.

Instead of hard plastic, Husky engineered this specific mat using a heavy, soft-touch premium rubber material.

  • The Grip: It feels exactly like a thick factory rubber mat under your feet, not a plastic tray.
  • The Weight: The rubber is significantly heavier than plastic, meaning it lays dead-flat against the floorboards instantly out of the box.
  • The Nibs: The bottom is completely covered in aggressive "Stay-Put" spikes that lock into the RAM's carpet better than any other mat we've tested.

In this guide, we compare the two industry titans side-by-side to help you decide if you want the ultimate "Bucket" containment of WeatherTech or the premium "Comfort & Grip" of the Husky X-Act Contour.

Frequently Asked Questions (Floor Mats)

My new WeatherTech mats are curling slightly at the door edges. How do I fix it?

Use heat.

Rigid thermoplastic mats can occasionally deform slightly over time or from being boxed up during shipping.

The Fix: Lay them face down on a flat driveway in the hot sun for 1 to 2 hours. This relaxes the rigid material and allows the "memory" of the plastic to return to its original, laser-measured shape.

Will "New Body" (DT) mats fit my 2021 "Classic" Warlock?

Absolutely not.

Even though they are both technically 2021 models, the Classic (DS) utilizes the exact floor plan from the older 2009–2018 trucks. The transmission tunnel hump, the footwells, and the seat brackets are located in completely different spots. If you put DT mats in a DS truck, they will not lay flat and will slide around dangerously.

What is the actual difference between Husky X-Act Contour and Husky WeatherBeater?

  • WeatherBeater: Uses a harder, plastic-like elastomer material (very similar to a standard WeatherTech). It is incredible for containing heavy mud, but it can be slightly slippery under wet shoes.
  • X-Act Contour: Uses a much softer, premium rubber compound. It feels significantly better under your feet, offers extreme grip when wet, and the material is heavier, meaning it lays perfectly flat on the carpet instantly out of the box. For daily drivers, it is highly worth the extra money.

Don't let the mud win.
