Why should I convert to a Shackle Mount?
Safety. A standard tow hook is "open." If you are pulling a stuck vehicle and the strap goes slack (which happens frequently during recovery), the strap can fall off the hook. A Shackle Mount uses a screw-pin D-Ring to create a closed loop. The strap cannot fall off, making it infinitely safer for kinetic "snatch" recoveries.
What is the Working Load Limit (WLL)?
For an F350, you need heavy-duty ratings. Most of our Shackle Conversion brackets are rated for 15,000+ lbs, and the 7/8" D-Rings are typically rated for 6-10 tons. Always ensure your recovery gear is rated for the Gross Vehicle Weight of your truck plus the resistance of the mud/snow.
