Does a cat-back exhaust add horsepower?
Yes, but it's modest. On a turbocharged engine like the Bronco's 2.3L or 2.7L, reducing backpressure does help the turbo spool faster. You can expect 5-10 HP and slightly better throttle response. The real gains come if you pair the exhaust with a Tuner and a Cold Air Intake.
Is it hard to install?
No. Cat-back systems on the Bronco are surprisingly easy to install because the truck sits high enough that you often don't even need a jack. You unbolt the factory flange, undo the rubber hangers, and drop the old system (the heavy factory muffler is the hardest part to handle). The new system bolts right up. Time estimate: 1-2 hours.
What happens to the factory "active" valve?
Most standard Broncos do not have active exhaust valves. However, if you have a Bronco Raptor, it has active valves. Standard Bronco cat-backs will not fit the Raptor. You need a specific Raptor exhaust that includes the valve mounts to prevent check engine lights.
