The ACC Problem: How to Install a Winch Bumper on a Lux Package Bronco

You bought the fully loaded 2021–2025 Ford Bronco with the Lux Package. It’s amazing on the highway, thanks to Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), which automatically keeps distance from the car ahead.
But now you want to install a heavy-duty Steel Bumper and a Winch.
You unbolt the factory plastic bumper and find a black plastic box wired into the harness. That’s your ACC Radar. And unfortunately, your new steel bumper puts a winch plate exactly where that sensor used to live.
If you unplug it, your dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree. If you leave it blocked, it won't work.

Will an aftermarket bumper block my front camera?
It depends on the bull bar. If your Bronco has the 360-degree camera system, a bumper with a tall "Bull Bar" or "Pre-Runner Hoop" will be visible in the bottom of the front camera view. If you mount a winch on top of the bumper (High Mount), it will definitely block a portion of the camera's view.
Do I need to relocate the ACC sensor?
Almost always. The factory location is right in the "impact zone" of most steel bumpers. Even if the bumper claims to be "Sensor Compatible," moving the ACC module behind the grille (using a relocation bracket) is the safest way to ensure it functions correctly and doesn't get smashed on the trail.
Can I tow my Bronco using the D-Ring mounts?
Yes. Aftermarket steel bumpers feature "Recovery Points" or "D-Ring Shackle Mounts" that are welded directly to the frame rails. These are significantly stronger than the factory tow hooks and are the proper place to attach a kinetic rope or winch line during a recovery.
