How do I safely remove the rear GT or Pony badge?
You don't want to. You want to replace the whole panel.
The factory rear badge is mounted to a ribbed plastic panel. If you pry it off, you will find mounting holes and a messy, uneven surface that looks terrible with a simple stick-on badge. The only correct way to debadge the rear of an S550 is to replace the entire Rear Decklid Panel. Aftermarket panels (like the official one from Ford Performance) are completely smooth, gloss black, and hole-free.
Do I have to take the front bumper off to change the grille emblem?
Technically yes, if you want to do it right.
The front Pony or GT emblem is secured with clips or plastic welds on the back of the factory grille mesh. While some people manage to break the old one off from the front using a pry tool, the proper way is to remove the front bumper (about a 30-minute job) to access the clips from behind and install the new black emblem securely.
Will aftermarket 5.0 fender badges cover the factory holes?
Yes, as long as you buy OEM-quality replacements.
