The Facelift Retrofit: How to Get the 2018+ Look on Your 2015 Mustang
Share
You love your 2015–2017 Mustang GT. The chassis is great, the Coyote V8 screams, and it’s paid off.
But then a 2018+ Mustang pulls up next to you.
Its headlights are sharp, angular, and aggressive. They look mean.
Suddenly, your 2015 headlights look... bubbly. Outdated.
You want the new look. But you don't want to swap your entire front bumper, hood, and fenders to get it.
Good news: You don't have to.
Aftermarket lighting companies like Morimoto and Raxiom have solved this problem with "2018 Style" Retrofit Assemblies.
These headlights are shaped to bolt directly into your 2015–2017 bumper, but internally, they mimic the angry "frown" DRLs of the facelifted S550.
In this guide, we compare the top retrofit options and show you how to shave years off your car's appearance in one afternoon.

Frequently Asked Questions (Headlights)
Can I put 2018+ headlights on my 2015 Mustang?
Not OEM ones.
The actual factory headlights from a 2018 Mustang are a different shape and will not fit the 2015 bumper or fenders.
However, you can buy "2018 Style" Aftermarket Headlights (from Morimoto or Raxiom). These are molded specifically to fit the 2015–2017 bumper gap but feature the internal styling and LED DRLs of the newer 2018+ models. This is the most popular exterior mod for pre-facelift owners.
Are RGB "Demon Eyes" or Color-Shift DRLs legal?
Only while parked.
It is illegal in all 50 states to drive with Red, Blue, or Green lights on the front of your vehicle (unless you are emergency services). Most RGB kits come with a Bluetooth app that allows you to set them to White or Amber for driving, and switch to "Party Mode" (Colors/Strobing) only when you are parked at a show.
My 2018+ Mustang headlights are dim. Can I change the bulbs?
No.
The 2018–2023 factory headlights are Sealed LED Units. There is no replaceable bulb inside. If a light burns out or gets dim, you must replace the entire headlight assembly.
Update your front end.
