If I install a digital monitor, do I still need an aftermarket EGT probe?
Yes, for the most accurate readings on the Cummins.
While modern 6.7L Cummins engines have factory EGT sensors in the exhaust to monitor the DPF, they are located after the turbocharger. The hottest, most dangerous temperatures occur directly inside the exhaust manifold, before the turbo. To truly protect your engine while towing, you should drill and tap your exhaust manifold to install an expandable EGT probe (EAS or thermocouple) connected directly to your Edge or Banks monitor.
Will an inline module ruin my heavy-duty transmission?
