Will installing an AMP Research BedXtender permanently block my bed lights or tie-downs?
No, they are highly engineered to avoid them.
The pivot brackets for the AMP Research extenders mount to the extreme rear corners of the bed (the D-pillars). They sit low enough that they do not block your factory LED bed lights, and they leave your factory corner tie-down cleats completely accessible so you can still ratchet-strap your motorcycle down with the extender in place.
I have a spray-in bedliner. Do I need special hardware to mount an extender?
No, but you do need to prep the surface.
If your Silverado has a thick factory or aftermarket spray-in liner, you can still drill and mount the standard pivot brackets. However, to ensure the bracket sits completely flush and secure against the steel D-pillar, we strongly recommend scraping away the thick, rubbery spray-in material only directly under where the bracket will sit.
Can I use a Bed Extender to hold the weight of my dirt bike's rear tire?
No, absolutely not.
A bed extender is designed to act as a fence, not a structural floor. The rear tire of your motorcycle or ATV must rest fully on the steel tailgate itself.
