RAM utilizes a highly sensitive electrical lighting system called PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). Instead of sending a steady, flat stream of electricity, the truck sends rapid "pulses" of power to the bulbs. This saves energy and extends the life of factory halogen bulbs.

But LED diodes react instantly. They react to those electrical pulses by turning on and off 100 times a second, which your eyes perceive as a flicker.

Why do my new LED bulbs flicker or immediately turn off?

It is the RAM Computer (CANBUS).

Your truck checks the headlights constantly by sending rapid pulses of voltage. Standard halogen bulbs don't react to this, but LEDs are instant, so they flash (flicker) with every pulse.

Solution: You need an Anti-Flicker Module (PWM Decoder) installed inline between the factory plug and the new LED bulb. This module smooths out the electrical signal and safely "tricks" the computer into thinking a standard halogen bulb is still drawing power.

Can I install aftermarket headlights if I have factory LEDs?

Not directly without an adapter.

Most aftermarket headlights (like those from AlphaRex or ANZO) are engineered specifically to upgrade trucks that came with base-level Halogens. The wiring plug on a factory LED truck is completely different.

The Fix: You must purchase a specific "OEM LED to Aftermarket" Adapter Harness, or ensure you buy a headlight explicitly listed for "Factory LED Models."

Do aftermarket tail lights come with blind spot sensors inside them?

No, they do not.

The Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) module is a highly expensive radar computer paired to your specific truck's ECU.

The Process: You remove your factory tail light, unscrew the BSM module (a small square box) from the back, and screw it directly into the mounting slot provided on your new aftermarket tail lights. Always verify the new lights are "BSM Compatible" before buying.
