Do these covers flap in the wind on the highway?
Not if they have tensioners.
Cheap, snap-on covers will flap. However, modern roll-ups (like the TruXedo Lo Pro) feature Automatic Tension Control. Spring-loaded plungers in the rear header bar keep the vinyl pulled tight constantly, even as the material expands in summer and shrinks in winter. They are surprisingly quiet at 75 MPH.
Can I open the tailgate with the cover closed?
Yes.
Most modern roll-up covers use a rear latch system that is independent of the tailgate. You can open and close your tailgate without having to unlatch the cover.
- Security Note: When the tailgate is locked, the cover cannot be opened from the outside (because the release latch is underneath), keeping your gear relatively secure.
How do I install a roll-up cover on a RamBox truck?
Standard RAM 1500 covers clamp to the metal lip of the bed. RamBox trucks don't have that lip.
